SAN FRANCISCO – A Texas photographer is suing a California termite services company over claims it unlawfully used a copyrighted image.

Alexander L. Wild, doing business as Alex Wild Photography, filed a lawsuit Dec. 31 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Ian B. Rogers, doing business as Ecoworld Termite Services, alleging copyright infringement.

The suit states Wild, an insect photographer, photographs insects and sells or licenses the photographs to people and companies, so his livelihood allegedly depends on receiving compensation for his photographs. The suit states the defendant used one of Wild's copyrighted images without Wild's permission on its website.

Wild seeks statutory damages up to $150,000 per each infringement, injunctive relief, attorney fees and costs of litigation. He is represented by attorney Mathew K. Higbee of Higbee & Associates in Santa Ana.
