SACRAMENTO – A Vallejo company claims an insurance company failed to provide insurance benefits.
Lennar Mare Island LLC (LMI) filed a complaint on Feb. 12 in the U.S. District Court Eastern District of California, Sacramento Division against Steadfast Insurance Co., citing breach of contract.
According to the complaint, LMI entered into agreements with the city of Vallejo to clean up Mare Island, formerly a Navy base, for residential/commercial use. The suit states that LMI has presented claims to Steadfast, but it has failed to provide benefits. The plaintiff holds Steadfast Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to respond to claims and benefits in a timely manner. which allegedly caused LMI to lose millions of dollars.
The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for all monetary damages, prejudgment interest, legal fees and any other relief the court deems just and proper. It is represented by Ryan L. Werner of Pennington Lawson LLP in San Francisco in California and Gregory L. Dillion and Alan H. Packer of Newmeyer & Dillion LLP in Walnut Creek.
