Man alleges knee implant is defective

SAN FRANCISCO – A Daly City man alleges that a medical implant company knowingly manufactured defective knee implants that caused injuries to patients.

Stephen C. Barnes filed a complaint on March 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Zimmer Inc., Zimmer Holdings Inc. and Zimmer Orthopaedic Surgical Products Inc., citing alleged negligence, breach of express and implied warranty and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered injuries as a result of a defective NexGen knee implant device. The plaintiff holds Zimmer Inc., Zimmer Holdings Inc. and Zimmer Orthopaedic Surgical Products Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly manufactured and marketed defective products.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for all damages, all legal fees and any other relief this court deems just and proper. He is represented by E. Jeffrey Banchero of Banchero Law Firm LLP in San Francisco.
