Patents 03

SAN FRANCISCO – Two Taiwanese companies are the named parties in a lawsuit regarding a patent for computer components.

Bing Xu Precision Co. LTD filed a complaint on May 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Acer Inc. alleging that the computer manufacturer infringed or is contributing to the infringement of plaintiff's patents regarding Serial AT Attachment (SATA) connectors.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as a result of its patents being infringed. The plaintiff holds Acer Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly manufactured and allowed third-party manufacturers to manufacture SATA connectors that infringe plaintiff's patents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, actual damages adequate to compensate plaintiff plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by John Burt and Dwight Beckstrand of Inhouse Attorneys in Herriman, Utah.
