SACRAMENTO – A Solano woman has filed a class-action suit against a business she alleges contacted her without her consent.
Twonesha Johnson-Hendricks filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on May 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against
South University and Does 1-10
alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in October 2015, she was contacted on her mobile phone by the defendant to solicit its services and that she was charged for those calls. The plaintiff holds South University and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly contacted plaintiff without receiving her prior consent and using an automatic telephone dialing system. She alleges her number has been registered with the National Do Not Call Registry.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages for each and every violation, $1,500 as treble damages for each and every violation, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just.
