SAN FRANCISCO – A San Jose business is seeking declaration from the court over claims made by a Florida business.

8x8 Inc. filed a complaint on June 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Star2Star Communications LLC and Star2Star Holdings LLC seeking declaratory relief.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant's former employee, Jamaal Savwoir, began working for the plaintiff in 2015. The plaintiff claims that a complaint has been filed against Savwoir by the defendants for allegedly breaching a noncompete agreement and allegations have been made that the plaintiff could be named.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks declaration that it may employ Savwoir or any of the defendants’ other past and present employees to provide services in California; injunctive relief against the defendant; restitution; general exemplary and punitive damages; all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Richard S. Amador, Jamie Rudman and Amir A. Amini of Sanchez & Amador LLP in Oakland.
