SAN FRANCISCO – Several consumers have filed suit against a Pennsylvania-based communications company alleging it repeatedly contacted them with harassing phone calls.

Melinda Brown, Gregorie Green, Anette Avila, Mitchell Brewer, Toni Benedict, Richard Perdue, Samuel Baltierra and Julie Everts filed a complaint on June 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Comcast Corp. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that between September 2014 and March, they were called several times on their cellular telephones using an automatic dialing system by the defendant in an attempt to collect a purported debt. The plaintiffs hold Comcast Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly called the plaintiffs several times despite their requests to stop calling them.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek statutory damages, actual damages, injunctive relief enjoining the defendant, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by John P. Kristensen, David L. Weisberg and Matthew T. Hale of Kristensen Weisberg LLP in Los Angeles, W. Craft Hughes and Jarret L. Ellzey of Hughes Ellzey LLP in Houston and Bryant Fitts of Fitts Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
