Two corporations accused of patent infringement with light design

Patents 02

SAN FRANCISCO – A Rhode Island business alleges two corporations with ties to Haywood manufactured lights that infringe its patents.

Lighting Science Group Corp. filed a complaint on July 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Shenzhen Jiawei Photovoltaic Lighting Co. LTD and Jiawei Technology (USA) Limited alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of its patented technology being used by the defendants without its consent. The plaintiff holds Shenzhen Jiawei Photovoltaic Lighting Co. LTD and Jiawei Technology (USA) Limited responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured a downlight luminaire that infringes plaintiff's patents and then distributed them across the U.S.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunction against the defendant, actual damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Valerie M. Wagner and Kimberly A. Donovan of GCA Law Partners LLP in Mountain View.
