United Omaha Life wrongfully denied benefits, man claims

Insurance 04

LOS ANGELES – An employee for the city of Long Beach claims he is disabled and was wrongfully denied long-term disability benefits by his insurer.

Nicholas Kozma filed a complaint on Aug. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against United of Omaha Life Insurance Co. alleging that the insurance firm denied plaintiff's claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he became disabled and filed a claim for disability benefits but was denied by the defendant. The plaintiff holds United of Omaha Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant denied plaintiff's disability benefits despite him allegedly being eligible for the benefits according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits due to plaintiff, reinstatement to the long-term disability plan and that benefits be continued to be paid for as long as he remains disabled, all legal fees and interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Glenn R. Kantor, Alan E. Kassan and Brent Dorian Brehm of Kantor & Kantor LLP in Northridge.
