LOS ANGELES — A California corporation is suing several businesses claiming they manufactured garments sporting similar designs to what it has manufactured for customers.

Unicolors Inc. filed a complaint on Aug. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against B. Boston & Associates Inc., Ross Stores Inc. doing business as DD's Discounts, Tovia Inc. and Does 1 through 10, citing alleged copyright infringement. 

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Unicolors Inc. suffered damages as the result of its design being used without its authority. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured and sold garments comprised of fabrics bearing the same designs as plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks award profits and damages derived from the unlawful act, enjoin the defendant from further infringing the plaintiff's designs, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems satisfactory, plus the sum of up to $150,000 per copyright infringement  The plaintiff is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs, Trevor W. Barrett, and Justin M. Gomes of Doniger/ Burroughs in Venice.
