Man alleged to owe more than $2,000 on student loan

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County resident is accused of defaulting on an education loan.

United States of America, acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, filed a complaint on Aug. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Lloyd M. Kelley, also known as Lloyd Michael Kelley, alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt to plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Kelley allegedly failed to pay plaintiff for the principal amount plus interest of his debt.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $2,892.19 plus interest of $3,376.24 and ongoing interest at the rate of 7 percent per annum at 55 cents per day, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull APC in Northridge.
