LOS ANGELES — A former employee has filed suit against an insurance firm for allegedly wrongly denying long-term disability payments.
Lisa Schoenberg filed a complaint Aug. 29 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Anthem Life Insurance Co., alleging that the insurance firm denied the plaintiff's claim for disability benefits.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in August 2014, she became disabled and applied for disability benefits, but was denied. The plaintiff holds Anthem Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to deny the plaintiff's claim for disability benefits despite being disabled according to the terms of the plan.
The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefit, reinstatement to the long-term disability plan with all ancillary benefits and to continue to be paid for as long as she remains disabled, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems appropriate. She is represented by Corinne Chandler and Andrew M. Kantor of Kantor & Kantor LLP in Northridge.
