Nanya Technology Corp. allegedly infringed upon California business' SD memory product patent

Patents 03

LOS ANGELES — A California business has filed suit against a Taiwanese corporation for allegedly infringing upon its patent for SD memory products.

North Star Innovations Inc. filed a complaint Aug. 29 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Nanya Technology Corp. U.S.A. and Nanya Technology Corp., alleging that the overseas company sells and imports products that infringe upon the plaintiff's patents.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that North Star Innovations Inc. suffered damages from having its patented technology used without its authority. The plaintiff holds Nanya Technology Corp. U.S.A. and Nanya Technology Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly imports and offers for sale SD memory products that infringe the fundamental inventions covered by the plaintiff's patents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages sustained by the plaintiff, treble damages, any royalties, to enjoin the defendant from further infringing the plaintiff's patents, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Brandon C. Fernald and Rachel D. Stanger of Fernald Law Group LLP in Los Angeles and Cameron H. Tousi and Andrew C. Aitken of IP Law Leaders PLLC in Rockville, Maryland.
