Hastay Marine LTD alleges it is owed more than $1 million for vessel's use

LOS ANGELES – A vessel owner alleges it was not paid for the use of the vessel.

Hastay Marine LTD filed a complaint on Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Hanjin Shipping Co. LTD alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant entered an agreement with it to charter the vessel Hanjin New Jersey at a daily hire rate of $23,890. The plaintiff alleges that it has not been paid for the charter.

The plaintiff holds Hanjin Shipping Co. LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to make payment of its outstanding debt, failed to honor contracted agreement and failed to provide confirmation of payment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in the sum of $1,380,375, interest, costs, attorneys’ fees and further relief as deemed just.
