SAN FRANCISCO – A couple alleges that they are not adequately paid as front desk managers for a San Francisco residential facility for the homeless and disabled.

Naynaben A. Patel and Amrutal Patel filed a complaint on Sept. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Crown Hotel LLC, Shantaben Desai and Ashok Patel alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they worked for more than 40 hours without receiving any overtime compensation or a minimum wage. The plaintiffs holds Crown Hotel LLC, Desai and Patel responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime premium to the plaintiffs for hours worked that exceeds 40 per week, did not provide duty-free meal breaks or provide itemized wage statements.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory damages, special damages, interest, liquidated damages, statutory/civil penalties, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Robert S. Nelson of Nelson Law Group in San Francisco.
