Malibu Media alleges BitTorrent user distributed films without authorization

SAN DIEGO – A Beverly Hills company is accusing a BitTorrent user of distributing its films without permission.

Malibu Media LLC filed a complaint on July 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against John Doe subscriber assigned internet protocol address 108.211.129.231 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having its works distributed without permission. The plaintiff holds John Doe subscriber assigned IP address 108.211.129.231 responsible because the defendant allegedly used the BitTorrent file distribution network to distribute downloaded copies of plaintiff's movies.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to permanently enjoin the defendant from further infringing plaintiff's property, order the defendant to delete all media relating to plaintiff's works, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
