SAN DIEGO — A California corporation has filed suit against two companies for alleged patent infringement of its onboard and handheld vehicle navigation systems.

Infogation Corp. filed a complaint July 27 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against HTC Corp. and HTC America Inc.,   alleging that they incorporated at least one claim of the plaintiff's 743 patent on their mobile phones.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Infogation Corp. suffered damages to its business from having its patent infringed. The plaintiff holds HTC Corp. and HTC America Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly manufacture and distribute mobile phones containing software that infringes the plaintiff's patents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Michael L. Kirby and Heather W. Schallhorn of Kirby & Kirby LLP in San Diego and Edward A. Pennington, Sean Phelan, Jennifer L. Feldman and John P. Moy and John P. Pennington of Smith Gambrell & Russell of Washington, D.C.
