LOS ANGELES – A digital media company is suing several Los Angeles companies alleging they copied more than 300 of its videos.
Jukin Media Inc. filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against QWorldstar Inc., doing business as Worldstar, Worldstar Hip Hop, Worldstar Candy and/or Worldstar Agency; Worldstar Management LLC; and Does 1 through 10 citing copyright and trademark infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business due to the infringement of its copyrighted videos. The plaintiff holds QWorldstar Inc., doing business as Worldstar, Worldstar Hip Hop, Worldstar Candy and/or Worldstar Agency; Worldstar Management LLC; and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly posted several of plaintiff's videos through social media for the benefit of their own business and without any authority from plaintiff and continued to do so after take-down requests were sent to them.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, statutory damages, injunction against the defendants, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Douglas C. Emhoff, Tamany Vinson Bentz and Matthew J. Busch of Venable LLP in Los Angeles.
