Photographer alleges real estate companies used copyrighted photo

LOS ANGELES – A Westlake Village photographer claims several real estate companies used his copyrighted photo without permission.

Adam George filed a complaint on Sept. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Lighthouse Properties Real Estate Services Inc., doing business as Lotus Estate Properties; ME Properties Inc.; Niland Properties; Stephanie Ronca; Sotheby's International Realty Inc.; and Does 1 through 10 citing copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages from having his copyrighted photo of a Venice street scene used without his authority. The plaintiff holds Lighthouse Properties Real Estate Services Inc., doing business as Lotus Estate Properties; ME Properties Inc.; Niland Properties; Stephanie Ronca; Sotheby's International Realty Inc.; and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly used plaintiff's photo on their websites.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants from further infringing plaintiff's photos, award all profits to plaintiff, statutory damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Frank Gregory Casella of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
