Individual failed to pay student loan, federal government claims

LOS ANGELES – The federal government claims a Los Angeles County man owes more than $2,000 on a student loan.

United States of America, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Sept. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Thyias D. Brown, also known as Thyias Deshon Brown, alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt with plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Brown failed to pay the principal amount of his debt with plaintiff plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $2,726.08 plus interest of $621.95 with further interest at 8 percent per annum accruing at 60 cents per day, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull APC in Northridge.
