Nordstrom Inc., MGT Industries Inc. accused of using copyrighted fabric design

LOS ANGELES – A California corporation alleges two companies manufactured or distributed a fabric bearing a similar design to plaintiff's copyrighted fabric.

Classical Silk Inc. filed a complaint on Sept. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Nordstrom Inc., MGT Industries Inc. and Does 1 through 10 citing copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business. The plaintiff holds Nordstrom Inc., MGT Industries Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sells fabrics or garments to retailers featuring unauthorized copies of plaintiff's designs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants from further infringing plaintiff's designs, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Frank Gregory Casella of Doniger/ Burroughs in Venice.
