Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. claims Cherry Stix, Alight.com copied fabric design

LOS ANGELES – A California company alleges that two businesses distributed fabrics that bear modified versions its copyrighted designs.

Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. filed a complaint on Oct. 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Cherry Stix LTD, Alight.com and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having its design used on other fabric and garments. The plaintiff holds Cherry Stix LTD, Alight.com and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold the infringing garments through retail stores.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants from further infringing plaintiff's designs, award all profits to plaintiff, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Frank Gregory Casella of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
