LOS ANGELES – A Tustin consumer has filed a class-action lawsuit against a debt collector over allegations it called without her consent.

Jessica Ivone Hernandez filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Oct. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against California Recovery Bureau Inc. and Does 1-100 citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in March, the defendant contacted her in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds California Recovery Bureau Inc. and Does 1-100 responsible because the defendants allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to contact plaintiff's cellular telephone and continued to call after she revoked her consent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $1,500 in statutory damages, treble damages of $1,500, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Meghan E. George and Adrian R. Bacon of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Woodland Hills.
