OAKLAND – A Beverly Hills media company claims an unknown internet user has been illegally distributing its movies on BitTorrent.

Malibu Media LLC, doing business as X-Art.com, filed a complaint on Oct. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Oakland Division against John Doe subscriber assigned IP address 73.189.145.211 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it owns copyrights to several original movies that defendant was purportedly found to have downloaded, copied and distributed through BitTorrent file distribution network without permission from plaintiff.

The plaintiff holds John Doe subscriber assigned IP address 73.189.145.211 responsible because the defendant allegedly distributed infringing copies of plaintiff's property.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in its favor, enjoin defendant from further infringement, order removal of digital files in defendant's possession, damages, attorneys’ fees, costs and and further relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Henrik Mosesi of Pillar Law Group APLC in Beverly Hills.
