SAN DIEGO – A Los Angeles corporation alleges its film was illegally distributed online.

Criminal Productions Inc. filed a complaint on Oct. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against Doe-72.192.163.220 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it owns all copyrights and interests needed to bring suit for the film "Criminal," which was released in theaters in April and is now being offered for sale in commerce. The plaintiff holds Doe 72.192.163.220 responsible because the defendant allegedly aided in the proliferation of internet piracy and distributed the film online on the BitTorrent website.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, permanent injunction, statutory damages, costs, attorney's fees and further relief as the court deems proper. It is represented by James S. Davis in Chula Vista.
