Government sues man for alleged nonpayment of student loan

CALIFORNIA — A government entity is suing Robert Reaves, an individual, citing alleged breach of contract and unpaid debt.

United States of America, though the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Oct. 18, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Robert Reaves alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt with plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that United States of America suffered damages due to unpaid debt. The plaintiff holds Robert Reaves responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the principal balance of his debt with the plaintiff plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $1,175.00 plus interest of $1,265.29, with interest accruing thereafter at 3 percent per annum, and all legal fees. They are represented by Jacquelyne M. Nguyen of Law Offices of Jacquelyne M. Nguyen in Costa Mesa.
