Feds sue California man for unpaid student debt

CALIFORNIA — A government entity is suing Brian P. Sullivan, an individual, citing alleged breach of contract and unpaid debt.

The Department of Education filed a complaint on Oct. 20, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Brian P. Sullivan alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt with plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that DOE suffered damages due to the unpaid debt. The plaintiff holds Brian P. Sullivan responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the principal amount of his debt with plaintiff plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $14,025.93 plus interest of $17,862.35 with interest accruing thereafter at 7 percent per annum, and all legal fees. They are represented by Kathryn E. Van Houten of Irsfeld, Irsfeld & Younger LLP in Glendale.
