LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County man alleges a doughnut chain falsely advertises certain ingredients and has filed a class-action suit.
Jason Saidian filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Nov. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. alleging common law fraud and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant falsely advertises its raspberry, blueberry and maple doughnuts as containing actual fruit and maple ingredients. He alleges he would not have purchased the products had he known they do not contain the ingredients advertised.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, interest, restitution, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Barbara A. Rohr and Benjamin Heikali of Faruqi & Faruqi LLP in Los Angeles.
