LOS ANGELES – A nonprofit organization headed by the daughter of radio icon Casey Kasem alleges that a production company hired to create a documentary breached its agreement.

Kasem Cares Inc. and Kerri Kasem filed a complaint on Nov. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Cameron Glenar, Rose Street Productions LLC and Does 1-10 alleging breach of oral or implied agreement, breach of fiduciary duty and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in 2015, they and the defendants entered into an agreement to jointly produce a documentary and utilize the footage for public exhibit to raise awareness about elder abuse. At a later part of the production in 2016, the defendants allegedly refused to continue production and would not turn over the raw footage unless the plaintiffs paid them $100,000.

The plaintiffs hold Glenar, Rose Street Productions LLC and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly threatened to replace plaintiff with another partner, refused to provide plaintiff with copies of the footage or allow plaintiff to use the footage to complete the documentary, and refused to continue production, sale or distribution of the documentary.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in their favor, declaratory relief, costs of suit, and further relief as the court deems reasonable. They are represented by Jesse Kaplan of Freedman + Taitelman LLP in Los Angeles.
