LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County woman is alleged to have defaulted on student loans.

United States of America, acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, filed a complaint on Nov. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Nyessia M. Brooks alleging that the individual failed to settle her debt with the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Brooks failed to pay the principal amount of her debt plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $24,840.18 plus interest in the amount of $3,570.46 with interest accruing thereafter at 56 cents and $2.01 per day plus all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull APC in Northridge.
