Phone 06

LOS ANGELES – A class-action suit has been filed by a Los Angeles County man against a debt collector over its collection calls.

Mike Marquez filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Nov. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Grant Mercantile Agency Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning July 2016, he suffered damages from receiving several collection calls. The plaintiff holds Grant Mercantile Agency Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to call the plaintiff without his permission.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Adrian R. Bacon and Meghan E. George of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Woodland Hills.
