Nurse alleges Reliance Standard Life Insurance wrongfully denied benefits

Insurance 03

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles resident claims she is no longer able to work as a registered nurse because of a disability but was wrongfully denied benefits.

Araceli Enricuso filed a complaint on Dec. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, she became entitled for disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly unreasonably failed to investigate her claim properly.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $3,000 per month plus interest, general damages in the sum of $1 million, punitive and exemplary damages of more than $5 million, treble damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Glenn R. Kantor and Corinne Chandler of Kantor & Kantor LLP in Northridge.
