Office Star claims New York companies are unlawfully using its furniture designs

LOS ANGELES – An Ontario office furniture manufacturer claims two New York companies are using its patented furniture design without authorization.

Blumenthal Distributing Inc., doing business as Office Star, filed a complaint on Dec. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against K & B Furniture Co. Inc. and Tristate Apartment Furnishers LLC alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business. The plaintiff holds K & B Furniture Co. Inc. and Tristate Apartment Furnishers LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly sells chairs that infringes plaintiff's '488 patent.

The plaintiff seeks the order of the destruction of all infringing materials, damages and profits, punitive damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief the court deems just. It is represented by David A. Dillard and Sami I. Schilly of Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP in Glendale.
