Southern California Edison faces class action over alleged solicitation calls

Phone 08

LOS ANGELES – An individual has filed a class-action lawsuit against Southern California Edison over allegations it contacted her without her permission to solicit the California Solar Initiative.

Michele Hunt filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Jan. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Southern California Edison alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in September 2016, the defendant called her seven times to solicit its services for a solar energy program. The plaintiff holds Southern California Edison responsible because the defendant allegedly kept on calling the plaintiff despite her request to stop calling her, called her using an automatic dialing system and did not have her permission to call her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, injunctive relief, $1,500 in treble damages, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Ronald A. Marron, Alexis Wood, and Kas Gallucci of Law Office of Ronald A. Marron in San Diego.
