Department of Education seeks payment of four student loans allegedly in default

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County resident is alleged to have defaulted on four student loans.

United States of America, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Jan. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Diony Martins alleging failure to pay.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Martins failed to pay the principal amount of four loans plus interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $1,377.80 plus interest of $977.08 with further interest at 12 percent per annum accruing at 45 cents per day, administrative charges of $6.44; principal amount of $2,205.16 plus interest of $1,601.17 with further interest at 9 percent per annum accruing at 54 cents per day; principal amount of $1,355.77 plus interest of $1,405.33 with further interest at 12 percent per annum accruing at 45 cents per day; principal amount of $5,533.84 plus interest of $4,018.14 with further interest at 9 percent per annum accruing at $1.36 per day, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
