Hungarian artist claims Lularoe unlawfully copied 'Cool Lion' work on leggings

LOS ANGELES – An artist in Hungary alleges a clothing company has copied his artwork without his permission.

Balaz Solti filed a complaint on Jan. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Lularoe LLC, Leann Stidham and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages from having his "Cool Lion" artwork copied. The plaintiff holds Lularoe LLC, Stidham and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly distributed and sold leggings that bear plaintiff's artwork without his authorization.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants from further infringing plaintiff's artwork, award all profits and damages to the plaintiff, statutory damages, all legal fees plus interest, and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott Alan Burroughs, Trevor W. Barrett and Justin M. Gomes of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
