LOS ANGELES – A California corporation alleges that three of its textile designs were copied without its consent.
Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. filed a complaint on Feb. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Ross Stores Inc., Lj Silver Silver & Co., Smiles Fashion Corp. and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to their business. The plaintiff holds Ross Stores Inc., Lj Silver Silver & Co., Smiles Fashion Corp. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly distributes garments that made out of fabrics that feature three of plaintiff's print designs without authorization.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees plus interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Frank Gregory Casella of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
