Star Fabrics Inc. accuses Macy's Inc., Private Brands LLC of copyright infringement

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles company alleges one of its textile designs was unlawfully used in clothing.

Star Fabrics Inc. filed a complaint on Feb. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Private Brands LLC, Macy's Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business from having its 64708 design copied. The plaintiff holds Private Brands LLC, Macy's Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold garments made out of fabrics featuring plaintiff's design.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs, and Howard S. Han of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
