Los Angeles County man alleged to owe on education loan

LOS ANGELES – The federal government claims a Los Angeles County man has not paid off a student loan.

United States of America, on behalf of the Department of Education, filed a complaint on Feb. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Sean A. Mitchell, also known as Sean Mitchell Jr., alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt with the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Mitchell failed to pay the principal amount of his debt including interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $2,437.24 plus interest of $701.17 with further interest at 8 percent per annum accruing at 53 cents per day, administrative charges of $52.09, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull in Northridge.
