Florida man alleges tree service company used patents for safety shield

LOS ANGELES – A Florida man alleges his patented technology was used for a wood chipper safety shield was unlawfully used.

Amit Agarwal filed a complaint on March 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Jeff Buchanan, doing business as Jeff Buchanan Tree Services and Buchanan Industries, alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he owns patents '004 and '531. The plaintiff holds Buchanan responsible because the defendant allegedly manufactures and sells its Wood Chipper Safety Shield product which uses elements of the plaintiff's patented works.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks order the defendant to pay compensatory damages plus interest, damages up to three times the amount found or measured, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is representing himself.
