L.A. Gem & Jewelry claims retailers are selling infringing jewelry designs

LOS ANGELES – Two retailers with ecommerce websites are accused of selling infringing pendants.

L.A. Gem & Jewelry Design Inc. filed a complaint on March 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Ashley Jewels, Boardwalk Buy and Does 1-10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that L.A. Gem & Jewelry Design Inc. suffered damages to its business from having its pendant jewelry designs copied without its consent. The plaintiff holds Ashley Jewels, Boardwalk Buy and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly distribute jewelry products that are substantially similar to the plaintiff's designs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, award damages, actual damages or statutory damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
