Law money 06

OAKLAND – One current and two former employees of a Modesto business allege they were not paid at a rate of time-and-one-half for overtime work.

Porter Clewis, Tanella Owens and Shaniqua Holmes filed a complaint on March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Oakland Division against Adult Educational Technologies Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they worked for more than 40 hours per week for the defendant as night personal attendants without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiffs holds Adult Educational Technologies Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime premium to the plaintiffs for working more than 40 hours per week and instead only paid their regular wages.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek unpaid overtime wages, doubled, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Trinette G. Kent in Phoenix, Arizona.
