Man alleged to owe more than $6,000 on student loan

LOS ANGELES – A Sacramento County individual is alleged to have failed to pay a student loan.

United States of America filed a complaint on April 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Melvin E. Barney Baehr alleging that the individual failed to settle his debt to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Barney failed to pay the principal amount of his debt including interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $6,657.31 plus interest of $10,094.15 with interest accruing thereafter at 9 percent per annum, and all legal fees. It is represented by Kathryn E. Van Houten of Irsfeld, Irsfeld & Younger LLP in Glendale.
