SAN DIEGO – A consumer has filed a class action suit against a meat products manufacturer and pet products corporation over allegations that hickory-smoked pig femur marketed for dogs is prone to splintering into shards when chewed, which cause dogs to suffer severe internal injuries.

Stephanie Brown, on behalf of herself and all others similarly situated filed a complaint on March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against Dynamic Pet Products LLC and Frick's Meat Products Inc. alleging fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Dec. 24, 2014, plaintiff purchased the Dynamic Real Ham Bone for Dogs because the product was meant for dogs and described as safe to chew on. She alleges the bones splintered and made her dogs ill and that the dogs needed emergency veterinarian care.

The plaintiffs holds Dynamic Pet Products LLC and Frick's Meat Products Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to inform consumers that the product may cause harm to dogs.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for all damages, attorneys' fees, costs and such other further relief as may be just and proper. She is represented by Timothy G. Blood, Leslie E. Hurst and Thomas J. O'Reardon II of Blood Hurst and O'Reardon LLP in San Diego.
