LOS ANGELES – A Redwood City company alleges one of its patents for a medical device was infringed.

Minerva Surgical Inc. filed a complaint on April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Hologic Inc. and CYTYC Surgical Products LLC alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of its patent being infringed. The plaintiff holds Hologic Inc. and CYTYC Surgical Products LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly had knowledge of plaintiff's patents but continued to manufacture and sell their NovaSure ADVANCED product, which the plaintiff claims infringes at least one claim of the plaintiff's '208 patent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunction against the defendants, damages, enhanced damages and interest, all legal fees, and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Vera M. Elson, Dale R. Bish, Christopher D. Mays and Jonathon Joannides of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati PC in Palo Alto.
