SAN FRANCISCO — A crabbing association is suing the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and California Fish and Game Commission, alleging violation of federal law.

Tri-State Crab Producers Association filed a complaint on April 5 in the San Francisco County Superior Court against the defendants alleging that they attempted to alter and delay the beginning of the crabbing season.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages due to the changes in the departments' policies regarding crabbing season. The plaintiff holds the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and California Fish and Game Commission responsible because the defendants also allegedly threaten to wrongly revoke the California Commercial Dungeness Crab Vessel Permits of companies the plaintiff represents.

The plaintiff seeks rejection of the department's attempt to revoke its license, injunction against the defendant, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Todd W. Blischke of Williams Kastner & Gibbs PLLC in Seattle.
