SAN FRANCISCO – The children of a deceased San Francisco County woman have filed a wrongful death suit against a nursing facility.

Jaswant Kaur by and through her successors-in-interest, Hargindar Gidda, Surindar Gidda, et al. filed a complaint on April 7 in the San Francisco County Superior Court against Kindred Healthcare Inc.; Hillhaven-MSC Partnership, doing business as  Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Nineteenth Avenue; Janice A.  Clements; Anita Brugh; Cora Lazar and Does 1 to 100 alleging elder abuse and/or neglect, fraud, wrongful death and other counts.

According to the complaint, Kaur was a resident at Kindred-Nineteenth Avenue from 2010 until Aug. 29, 2016. The suit states Kaur was admitted to a hospital in September 2016 with a severe septic infection because of mismanagement and inadequate care provided by the defendants. The suit states she died the following month because of the infection.

The plaintiffs holds Kindred Healthcare Inc.; Hillhaven-MSC Partnership, doing business as Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Nineteenth Avenue; Clements; Brugh; Lazar and Does 1 to 100 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to monitor and record Kaur's condition and maintain nursing and other staffing at levels adequate to meet Kaur's needs.

The plaintiffs seek general damages, special damages, exemplary damages, interest, all legal fees, and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Carl A. McMahan and Mark J. Habeeb of McMahan Law PC in Los Angeles.
