Law money 13

SAN FRANCISCO – A San Francisco woman alleges she was wrongfully classified as an independent contractor by Uber Technologies.

Victoria Bell filed a complaint on April 18 in the San Francisco County Superior Court against Uber Technologies Inc., Travis Kalanick and Does 1 thru 100 alleging violations of labor codes.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began working for Uber as a diver in August 2014.  The plaintiff holds Uber Technologies, Inc., Kalanick and Does 1 thru 100 responsible because the defendants allegedly misclassified their employees as independent contractors, failed to pay overtime wages, failed to provide off-duty meal periods and failed to supply accurate wage statements. She also alleges she was wrongfully terminated.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks special damages, exemplary damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Carney R. Shegerian of Shegerian & Associates Inc. in Santa Monica.
