UnrollMe user alleges company sold user's information for financial gain

SAN FRANCISCO – An individual has filed a class-action lawsuit against an email management service and its parent company over allegations that it secretly monitors users.

Meghna Parikh filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on May 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against UnrollMe Inc. and Slice Technologies Inc. citing the Electronic Communications Privacy Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she registered for an UnrollMe account for her Gmail account in 2015. The plaintiff holds UnrollMe Inc. and Slice Technologies Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly used their email management service to secretly monitor and sell the information of their users without them knowing for financial gain.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, restitution, statutory damages, punitive damages, disgorgement, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Robert C. Schubert, Noah M. Schubert and Kathryn Y. Schubert of Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe LLP in San Francisco.
