Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. alleges UA 16128 design was used without permission

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles corporation is accused of using a textile design in clothing without authorization.

Universal Dyeing & Printing Inc. filed a complaint on May 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Topson Downs of California Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages from having its UA 16128 design copied without its authority. The plaintiff holds Topson Downs of California Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold or manufactured garments made out of fabrics that bear plaintiff's designs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, statutory damages, all profits, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Doniger, Scott A. Burroughs and Frank Gregory Casella of Doniger/Burroughs in Venice.
